Stamped Sterling.
Thomas Singer is known throughout the world for his jewelry work. His
overlay pieces incorporate the most traditional of Navajo design - designs
that have endured for many years. Many of these designs are inspired
by Navajo rugs and other traditional designs. Jeweler Thomas Singer
is a Navajo Indian from Winslow, Arizona. Tommy Singer states, "Every
piece is made with the meanings from my traditional ways - the Navajo
way of living. My father was a silversmith. He taught me and wanted
me to continue this trade. It was my father's dream that I learn to
silversmith so that I can continue his belief."
Overlay is created by "sweating" or soldering two pieces of
silver together. The top piece contains a design element which is meticulously
hand cut out of silver. The bottom piece is oxidized and often textured
with stamping to produce a contrasting background. Once together the
work is carefully filed, buffed, and polished to produce this fine finish.

There are many legends about Turquoise; The Pima consider it to bring
good fortune and strength and believe that it helps overcome illness.
The Zuni believe that blue turquoise was male and of the sky and green
turquoise was female and of the earth. Pueblo Indians thought that its
color was stolen from the sky. In Hopi legend the lizard who travels
between the above and the below, excretes turquoise and that the stone
can hold back floods. The Apache felt that turquoise on a gun or bow
made it shoot straight. The Navajo consider it as good fortune to wear
and believe it could appease the Wind Spirit.
We understand the true value and nature of hand crafted Indian art.
And, we recognize that it is important to know that the artist is truly
a member of a Native American tribe. So, to ensure you that this is
the real deal, a Certificate of Authenticity has been included with
